7 Let’s wander from the point : in fact, as far as his filmography is concerned, Lucas goes from do-it-yourself to science, as described in Levi-Strauss’s essay on ‘La Pensée Sauvage’ (Wild Thinking). The handyman uses the available tools, which are obviously limited, to build up what he needs. The scientist develops the tools which will enable him in a latter stage to carry out his project. The former starts from a finished unity, and therefore puts up with reality, the latter constitues a paraphernalia likely to modify it.
